How to Pray: Prayer

How to Pray: Prayer

Prayer is a personal communication with God, characterized by sincerity and honesty rather than specific words or physical postures.  The most common model for beginners is the Lord’s Prayer (Matthew 6:9-13), which provides a structured framework rather than a rigid script.

Christian Prayer Frameworks

  • ACTS Method: A common structure involving Adoration (praising God), Confession (admitting sins), Thanksgiving (expressing gratitude), and Supplication (asking for needs).
  • PRAY Method: A four-step approach to Pause (be still), Rejoice (praise God), Ask (make requests), and Yield (submit to God’s will).
  • Key Elements: Effective prayer typically includes addressing God (e.g., “Heavenly Father”), praising Him for His nature, confessing sins, asking for guidance or needs, and closing in Jesus’ name.

General Principles

  • Attitude: God values the content of the heart over eloquence; prayer is described as talking to a loving Father or close friend.
  • Consistency: Establishing a regular routine and finding a quiet, undisturbed place helps deepen the practice.
  • Will of God: Requests are made with the understanding that God knows what is best and answers according to His will, often bringing peace rather than just material outcomes.

What Does The KJV Bible Say?

Prayer in the King James Version (KJV) is a structured, faithful communication with God relying on His promises, alignment with His will, and earnest persistence. Below is a comprehensive blueprint detailing how to pray according to the KJV, a reference table, 10 scriptural examples, and a cross-disciplinary psychological analysis integrating Myers-Briggs (MBTI), Carl Jung, and Donald Winnicott.

The KJV Blueprint for Prayer

According to the King James Bible, effective prayer requires specific conditions of the heart and mind:

  • Faith: Believing that God exists and rewards those who seek Him (Hebrews 11:6).
  • Righteousness: Turning away from intentional sin to avoid blocking your prayers (Psalm 66:18, James 5:16).
  • Forgiveness: Releasing grudges against others so God will forgive you (Mark 11:25).
  • Alignment: Requesting items that match God’s ultimate will (1 John 5:14).
  • The Name of Jesus: Requesting access through Christ’s authority (John 14:13–14).

10 Examples of Prayer in the KJV

  1. The Model Prayer (The Lord’s Prayer): Matthew 6:9–13 provides the ultimate structural template for addressing God.
  2. Solomon’s Prayer for Wisdom: 1 Kings 3:9 shows a leader asking for an understanding heart to discern between good and bad.
  3. The Publican’s Prayer of Repentance: Luke 18:13 features a humble cry: “God be merciful to me a sinner.”
  4. Jesus in Gethsemane: Matthew 26:39 demonstrates complete submission: “not as I will, but as thou wilt.”
  5. Hannah’s Prayer of Supplication: 1 Samuel 1:11 records a desperate, silent vow born out of deep emotional grief.
  6. David’s Prayer of Confession: Psalm 51:1–10 outlines a broken heart begging for cleansing and a right spirit.
  7. The Thief on the Cross: Luke 23:42 is a deathbed request for salvation: “Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom.”
  8. Elijah’s Prayer for Fire: 1 Kings 18:36–37 aims directly at proving God’s power to a wayward nation.
  9. Hezekiah’s Prayer for Deliverance: 2 Kings 19:15–19 appeals to God’s glory to save a city from an invading army.
  10. Stephen’s Intercession for Interceptors: Acts 7:60 mimics Christ by asking for his murderers to be forgiven.

Psychological Analyst Reports

1. Myers-Briggs (MBTI) Analyst Report

From an MBTI perspective—specifically looking through the lens of an INTJ / INFJ (The Analyst/Visionary Archetypes)—the KJV structure of prayer acts as an intentional framework designed to regulate internal psychological functions:

  • Introverted Intuition (Ni) & Introverted Feeling (Fi): The act of quiet, structured prayer allows dominant introverted types to organize internal chaos, transition from “doing” to “being”, and find symbolic patterns of meaning.
  • Thinking (T) vs. Feeling (F) Synthesis: The structured model (Matthew 6) appeals to Thinking types because it offers a logical, step-by-step framework. Conversely, it satisfies Feeling types by establishing a deeply personal relationship with a parental archetype (“Our Father”).

2. Carl Jung Analyst Report

Carl Jung viewed prayer not as a superstitious ritual, but as a vital psychological mechanism for communicating with the deeper layers of the subconscious and the Collective Unconscious.

  • The Ego-Self Axis: Jungian analysis interprets KJV prayer as the Ego (the conscious mind) voluntarily bowing to the Self (the archetype of psychic wholeness, symbolized by God).
  • The Shadow and Confession: KJV instructions to confess sins (Psalm 51) represent the conscious integration of the Shadow. By confessing flaws out loud, the individual stops projecting their dark traits onto others, preventing psychological fragmentation and balancing the psyche.

3. Donald Winnicott Object Relations Perspective

Psychoanalyst Donald Winnicott’s theories on childhood development translate seamlessly into the psychological environment of KJV prayer:

  • The “Holding Environment”: Winnicott emphasized the necessity of a safe space provided by a parent. In KJV prayer, God functions as the ultimate, unshakeable Holding Environment. It allows the individual to drop their defense mechanisms (“The False Self”) and express raw, vulnerable emotions safely.
  • The “Good-Enough” Parent: KJV prayer balances a perfectly loving father with a sovereign ruler. This duality matches Winnicott’s concept of a parent who provides security but allows reality to build resilience.
  • Transitional Space: The place of prayer acts as a “potential space.” It is a boundary where internal psychic reality meets external reality, allowing the individual to play, heal, and process trauma constructively.

This is a major important point about forgiveness

Leave there thy gift before the altar, and go thy way; first be reconciled to thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift. -MATTHEW 5:24 KJV

Are You Your Own Worst Enemy?

I would start out by saying what Jesus Christ would want us to do? Pray and how should we pray? The Lord’s Prayer, and how often should we pray? Continually. Why do we use the Lord’s Prayer and not some other? The Lord’s Prayer covers all the areas that is important for our spiritual being.

When we pray the Lords prayer we ask to forgive our enemies, let God’s will be done, the kingdom to come. By praying the Lord’s prayer we let go of many thoughts we have in our head and give them back to God so we can have things revealed to us.

We must overcome resentment in our heart, and in a past video I shared about Dr. Jordan Peterson talks about how resentment can destroy us and we become our own very worst enemy and Jordan goes on to say that we must talk to people what we have resentment toward to overcome that resentment. Other people who lived in the past who talked about this is Jesus Christ and someone who is living now who talks about this daily is Brother Augustine, Dr. John MacArthur, Dr. Charles Stanley, Rev. John Piper and Pastor Paul Washer.

Women are looking for a fathers love

Women are looking for a fathers love. Its important that men understand women are looking for a fathers love and not get screwed. Woman more than anything are looking for a strong spiritual man to lead the future (the family). I think in many YouTube videos on biblical teachings, how young women are being hurt by men that are just looking to get laid instead of doing right and being in Christ and setting a good example of a strong man. We must be in Christ, hate no one, love all, forgave theses we resent, love what is right and support people who are walking with God.

Women need their fathers in their lives to be strong man to be good examples and not BETA men or weak examples of what a man should be. Its important that a man leads the way as Christ leads men, we as man need to fellow Jesus Christ to keep society from going to HELL.

Every day you can see or people watch how some men and women our living in hell without the right spiritual order then you will continue your hellish way according to 2 Peter. You can also find it in Romans. God will give you over to a reprobate mind.

And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient. – Romans 1:28 (KJV)

In Romans 1, Paul refers to something known as a reprobate mind. If you’re not familiar with the term reprobate, the literal definition in the Greek is failing to pass the test, unapproved, counterfeit.

Spiritual Order – In The Family and Church

God the father

Jesus Christ

Father (Men over women)

Mother (Women over children)

Here is Book, Chapter and Verse from the Kings James Version 1 Corinthian 11:2-16, But the main message is in 1 Corinthian 11:3: “But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God.”

How God Commands Us To Forgive Those Who We Have Resentment Toward.

All of us are tested everyday by our personal internal struggle coming from resentment of what happened earlier in our lives as children typically what our mother did to us, telling how our fathers were not good enough or driving us away from our fathers when we were children. We most go to the people that we have resentment against and forgive them. By forgiving our mothers or whoever we have resentment against, God will forgive us and we can return to the heavenly Father through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

It was said if you don’t love everyone then you love no one. People today live like the Old Testament people did. We must forgive and love everyone as God Commanded us to do according to Matthew 22:34-40.

After Reading The Passage I would Recommend Doing A Silent Prayer

Its is said: Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth. Psalm 46:10 King James Version (KJV)

In a world where it is so easy to forget the importance of God, we must remember that He is holy and will not share His glory. America has forgotten this truth and it is time for us to re-examine our relationship with God and recognize that He is the one true God who deserves our full devotion and reverence. We must remember that He will not be taken lightly or ignored, but rather should be honored as the Creator of all things. Only then can we truly experience His love and grace in our lives.
