Courage is the fundamental engine of healing for those recovering from complex trauma (C-PTSD). It is not a magical trait one must possess, but a practice that allows individuals to break the grip of fear and reclaim their lives.

Redefining Courage in Trauma Recovery

The most damaging myth about courage is that it requires the absence of fear. For trauma survivors, who often live with constant anxiety and hypervigilance, this belief creates a trap of shame. The workable definition for recovery is different: Courage is not the absence of fear; it is feeling the fear and choosing a healthy action anyway.

In the context of complex trauma, fear often acts like a malfunctioning smoke alarm that blares constantly, even when there is no fire. Survival mechanisms like fight, flight, freeze, or fawn are attempts to silence this alarm. Courage is the conscious decision to stop reacting to the false alarm with ancient panic and instead respond from present-day capability. It is the choice to move toward health even when the nervous system screams that it is unsafe.

The Neurology of Fear and Courage

Understanding why courage feels impossible requires looking at how trauma affects the brain. When a trigger occurs, it often bypasses the rational prefrontal cortex and hijacks the limbic system, the emotional brain that operates on feeling rather than facts. This can cause an “emotional flashback,” where an adult feels like a helpless child facing a life-threatening situation over a minor stressor, such as a critical email from a boss.

Acting with courage involves doing “neurological heavy lifting” to shift from the limbic brain back to the cortex. This process includes:

Noticing the trigger and recognizing the feeling of the past.
Regulating the nervous system through breathwork or grounding.
Reframing the limbic lie with cortical truth.
Choosing a healthy response instead of an old, fearful reaction.

Practical Battlegrounds for Courage

Healing happens in minute-by-minute choices where every step forward triggers fear. There are specific areas where courage is most critically needed:

The Courage to Connect For those who have learned that people are dangerous, isolation feels safe. Courage involves forcing oneself to attend a support group or say “hello” to someone despite the limbic brain screaming that one is a fraud. Each small act of safe connection builds evidence that not all people are threats, rewiring the attachment system.

The Courage to Ask for Help Survivors often believe that needing help is a burden, leading to hyper-independence and burnout. The courageous choice is to reach out to a safe friend during a crisis. When the world does not end and compassion is received, it validates that relying on others can be safe.

The Courage to Set Boundaries Those with a “fawn” response often appease others to keep the peace. Courage looks like stating, “I don’t have the capacity for this conversation,” even if it causes discord. Holding a boundary teaches the self that personal comfort is worth protecting, even if it displeases others. This is often described as having the courage to be discordant—playing one’s authentic note even when it clashes with an unhealthy family “chord.”

Courage breaks trauma’s grip by providing the internal strength required to challenge fear-based survival instincts and establish new behavioral patterns. In the King James Version (KJV) of the Bible, courage is directly tied to the promises of God’s presence, allowing individuals to move past distress and step forward into healing.

Feeling Emotions: Allowing yourself to process suppressed anger or grief rather than numbing it.
Changing Routines: Adopting new, healthy habits despite the fear of the unknown.
Challenging Negative Thoughts: Consciously replacing trauma-induced lies of worthlessness with affirming truths.
Vulnerability: Opening up to a trusted friend or support group about your experiences.
Practicing Self-Compassion: Forgiving yourself for survival behaviors you adopted during traumatic seasons.
Reclaiming Agency: Making independent decisions without constantly defaulting to people-pleasing.
Facing Phobias: Deliberately but safely exposing yourself to trauma triggers to desensitize your reactions.
Establishing Safety: The daily, quiet resolve to take care of your physical and mental health.

Myers-Briggs (MBTI) Analyst Report: Trauma & Courage

In the context of Jungian psychology (the foundation of the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator), severe trauma frequently forces individuals into “survival states”. It distorts a person’s natural cognitive functions, causing them to rely heavily on their shadow functions (fear, hyper-vigilance, and over-control).

Analysts note that healing requires courage to shift back to one’s natural, healthy cognitive functions:

For Feeling Types (F): Trauma often forces Fs to suppress their deep internal values to keep the peace. Courage looks like establishing boundaries and validating their own emotional needs.
For Thinking Types (T): Trauma might cause Ts to detach entirely from emotions and hyper-rationalize their trauma. Courage means allowing themselves to feel and be vulnerable.
For Perceiving Types (P): Trauma can lead to feeling chaotic and out of control. Courage is found in establishing routines and daily self-care.
For Judging Types (J): Trauma can cause Js to become rigid and hyper-controlling in an effort to feel safe. Courage is the flexibility to allow spontaneity and let go of perfectionism.

Are You Your Own Worst Enemy?

I would start out by saying what Jesus Christ would want us to do? Pray and how should we pray? The Lord’s Prayer, and how often should we pray? Continually. Why do we use the Lord’s Prayer and not some other? The Lord’s Prayer covers all the areas that is important for our spiritual being.

When we pray the Lords prayer we ask to forgive our enemies, let God’s will be done, the kingdom to come. By praying the Lord’s prayer we let go of many thoughts we have in our head and give them back to God so we can have things revealed to us.

We must overcome resentment in our heart, and in a past video I shared about Dr. Jordan Peterson talks about how resentment can destroy us and we become our own very worst enemy and Jordan goes on to say that we must talk to people what we have resentment toward to overcome that resentment. Other people who lived in the past who talked about this is Jesus Christ and someone who is living now who talks about this daily is Brother Augustine, Dr. John MacArthur, Dr. Charles Stanley, Rev. John Piper and Pastor Paul Washer.

Women are looking for a fathers love

Women are looking for a fathers love. Its important that men understand women are looking for a fathers love and not get screwed. Woman more than anything are looking for a strong spiritual man to lead the future (the family). I think in many YouTube videos on biblical teachings, how young women are being hurt by men that are just looking to get laid instead of doing right and being in Christ and setting a good example of a strong man. We must be in Christ, hate no one, love all, forgave theses we resent, love what is right and support people who are walking with God.

Women need their fathers in their lives to be strong man to be good examples and not BETA men or weak examples of what a man should be. Its important that a man leads the way as Christ leads men, we as man need to fellow Jesus Christ to keep society from going to HELL.

Every day you can see or people watch how some men and women our living in hell without the right spiritual order then you will continue your hellish way according to 2 Peter. You can also find it in Romans. God will give you over to a reprobate mind.

And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient. – Romans 1:28 (KJV)

In Romans 1, Paul refers to something known as a reprobate mind. If you’re not familiar with the term reprobate, the literal definition in the Greek is failing to pass the test, unapproved, counterfeit.

How God Commands Us To Forgive Those Who We Have Resentment Toward.

All of us are tested everyday by our personal internal struggle coming from resentment of what happened earlier in our lives as children typically what our mother did to us, telling how our fathers were not good enough or driving us away from our fathers when we were children. We most go to the people that we have resentment against and forgive them. By forgiving our mothers or whoever we have resentment against, God will forgive us and we can return to the heavenly Father through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

It was said if you don’t love everyone then you love no one. People today live like the Old Testament people did. We must forgive and love everyone as God Commanded us to do according to Matthew 22:34-40.
