Is being nice actually stopping us from being truly kind?
Prioritizing niceness often prevents true kindness by substituting superficial harmony for authentic care. Being nice is typically a transactional, fear-based behavior focused on being agreeable and avoiding conflict, whereas being kind is a selfless, courageous act focused on another person’s long-term well-being.
- Motivation: Niceness is driven by a desire for validation, approval, or social comfort, often masking the truth to keep the peace. Kindness is driven by genuine empathy and a desire to help, even if it requires uncomfortable honesty.
- Impact: Niceness protects the mood and maintains a pleasant facade, but it can be disingenuous and condescending. Kindness protects the person’s growth and health, prioritizing messy truth over polished performance.
- Outcome: Constant niceness can lead to people-pleasing, suppressed boundaries, and unresolved issues that fester over time. True kindness builds trust and fosters growth through honest, compassionate action, regardless of short-term discomfort.
What Does The KJV Bible Say?
Theology, psychology, and philosophy suggests that being “nice” can actively prevent us from being truly “kind”. While the two terms are often conflated in modern culture, they operate from entirely different motives, boundaries, and sources of power.
- Niceness is an external social lubricant focused on avoiding conflict, maintaining appearances, and securing approval.
- Kindness is a deep-rooted moral virtue focused on the actual objective good of another person, even if it requires difficult truth, sacrifice, or confrontation.
1. Theological Distinction: King James Version (KJV)
In the King James Version of the Bible, the word “nice” never appears. When modern translations use the word “kind,” the KJV frequently translates the underlying Greek or Hebrew concepts into weightier terms like goodness, longsuffering, gentleness, or mercy. Scripturally, kindness is a fruit of the Spirit that demands truth, whereas “niceness” often resembles the flattery and people-pleasing warned against in Scripture.
| Feature / Concept | Niceness (The Cultural Counterfeit) | Biblical Kindness (The Spiritual Fruit) |
|---|---|---|
| Primary Goal | To keep the peace and avoid social discomfort. | To seek the ultimate spiritual and practical good of others. |
| Root Motivation | Fear of conflict, self-preservation, or human approval. | Love for God, obedience, and genuine empathy. |
| Relationship to Truth | Will compromise or obscure the truth to remain liked. | Speaks the truth in love, regardless of the social cost. |
| Cost | Usually costless; built on easy pleasantries. | Costly; requires personal sacrifice and emotional courage. |
| Scriptural Stance | Characterized as people-pleasing, flattery, or false peace. | Commanded as a reflection of God’s character. |
2. 10 Comparative Examples: Nice vs. Kind
- Admonishing a Friend in Sin
- Nice: Staying silent or validating their choices to avoid hurting their feelings or damaging the friendship.
- Kind: Pulling them aside privately to gently but firmly warn them of the destructive path they are on.
- Handling a Workplace Conflict
- Nice: Nodding along in agreement during a meeting, only to harbor resentment or vent privately to others later.
- Kind: Addressing the issue directly and respectfully with the person involved to find a genuine resolution.
- Parenting a Defiant Child
- Nice: Giving in to a child’s tantrums to keep them happy and stop the immediate noise.
- Kind: Enforcing consistent boundaries and discipline to build the child’s long-term character, despite their temporary anger.
- Encountering a Beggar
- Nice: Giving a quick, polite smile while walking by to avoid an awkward interaction.
- Kind: Stopping to look them in the eye, offering a meal, or engaging in a way that respects their humanity.
- Giving Performance Feedback
- Nice: Telling an underperforming employee “You’re doing great!” because you dread a difficult conversation.
- Kind: Providing clear, constructive critique and actionable steps to help them grow or transition successfully.
- Setting Personal Boundaries
- Nice: Saying “yes” to every favor until you are completely burnt out and bitter, because you are afraid to say “no”.
- Kind: Honestly communicating your limits so that your “yes” is authentic and free of hidden resentment.
- Dealing with False Teaching
- Nice: Nodding politely during a theological error to maintain a superficial sense of unity.
- Kind: Correcting the error scripturally to protect the person and the congregation from deception.
- Answering Someone Venting Bitterly
- Nice: Validating their unrighteous anger and gossiping along with them to make them feel validated.
- Kind: Listening patiently but gently helping them pivot toward forgiveness and self-examination.
- Responding to an Insult
- Nice: Laughing it off awkwardly while feeling deeply wounded and slighted inside.
- Kind: Exercising patient self-control, refusing to retaliate, but addressing the disrespect cleanly if necessary.
- A Toxic Relationship
- Nice: Enabling someone’s addiction or abusive patterns because confronting them would cause a massive explosion.
- Kind: Executing “tough love” by cutting off enablement and insisting they get professional help.
3. Analyst Reports: Four Perspectives
Report A: The Myers-Briggs (MBTI) Analyst Report
- The Core Paradox: The tension between niceness and kindness heavily correlates with the Feeling (F) vs. Thinking (T) and Extraverted Feeling (Fe) vs. Introverted Feeling (Fi) dichotomies.
- The “Nice” Trap (High Fe): High Extraverted Feelers (like ESFJs or ENFJs) are naturally attuned to the immediate emotional harmony of a room. This can cause them to default to “niceness”—smoothing over fractures and prioritizing group comfort. If unhealthy, this manifests as people-pleasing, where the fear of disrupting social cohesion stops them from executing true kindness, which often requires disruptive honesty.
- The “Kind” Execution (High Fi / Balanced T): True kindness often requires an integrated Introverted Feeling (Fi) system—which acts on internal moral convictions rather than external feedback—paired with a Thinking (T) function capable of objective analysis. For instance, an INTJ or INFJ might not appear superficially “warm” or “nice,” but their deeply held values drive them to execute massive, practical acts of sacrifice or truth-telling that yield genuine, long-term good.
- Conclusion: Niceness is an attempt to manage short-term emotional metrics; kindness is an investment in long-term structural development.
Report B: The John MacArthur Analyst Report
- The Core Paradox: Modern evangelicalism has substituted the “Gospel of Nice” for biblical holiness and love. Jesus was never merely “nice,” but He was the embodiment of divine kindness.
- The Critique of Niceness: MacArthur frequently points out that “niceness” is a cultural construct born of political correctness and a fear of man. It leads to a spineless Christianity that refuses to name sin, call for repentance, or defend sound doctrine because doing so “isn’t pleasant”.
- The Definition of Biblical Kindness: True kindness (chrestotes) is inherently tied to goodness and truth. MacArthur teaches that kindness is “power under control” (praus/gentleness). It is best demonstrated when Jesus forcefully cleansed the temple or rebuked the Pharisees—He was defending His Father’s glory and protecting souls from damnation. MacArthur emphasizes that the kindest thing a person can do is tell a sinner the truth about their spiritual condition so they can find real salvation.
- Conclusion: Niceness lets people slide into hell comfortably; kindness is willing to offend someone if it means saving their soul.
Report C: The Jordan Peterson Analyst Report
- The Core Paradox: A harmless man is not a good man. “Niceness” is frequently a mask worn by weak, naive, or cowardly individuals who lack the capacity for aggression and mistake their harmlessness for virtue.
- The Critique of Niceness: Peterson argues from a Jungian perspective that highly agreeable people often fall into the trap of pathologically avoiding conflict. This “niceness” is highly manipulative; it is a transactional strategy to avoid being targeted or to subtly get one’s way without taking a stand. It breeds latent bitterness and resentment, which eventually explodes destructively.
- The Definition of True Goodness (Kindness): Peterson asserts that true virtue requires integrating your inner “monster” (your capacity for aggression, strength, and sharpness) and placing it under voluntary control. A truly good or kind person is formidable and capable of doing damage, but chooses not to. Because they have teeth, they can set firm boundaries, stand up to bullies, negotiate effectively, and protect the vulnerable.
- Conclusion: Niceness is the absence of teeth; kindness is having a mouth full of sharp teeth but keeping them sheathed out of moral restraint.
Report D: The Paul Washer Analyst Report
- The Core Paradox: The modern world demands a sentimental, humanistic “love” that accepts everything, whereas God demands an intense, sacrificial love rooted in the fear of the Lord.
- The Critique of Niceness: Washer fiercely critiques the contemporary church’s obsession with being liked by the culture. He argues that trying to be “nice” to the world results in compromising the offense of the Cross. When believers modify the gospel to make it palatable and non-offensive, they are acting out of self-preservation and pride, not love.
- The Definition of Biblical Kindness: Washer points back to historical puritanical definitions of love and mercy. True kindness is rugged, bloody, and fiercely protective of the truth. It views sin as an active poison. Therefore, a “nice” pastor who won’t preach on hell or repentance is actually acting cruelly. A “kind” believer is someone who, broken by the weight of God’s holiness, will weep over a friend’s sin and speak hard, soul-piercing truths to them because they value that person’s eternal destiny far more than their temporary emotional comfort.
- Conclusion: Niceness values a person’s immediate self-esteem; kindness values a person’s eternal soul.

This is a major important point about forgiveness
Leave there thy gift before the altar, and go thy way; first be reconciled to thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift. -MATTHEW 5:24 KJV
Are You Your Own Worst Enemy?
I would start out by saying what Jesus Christ would want us to do? Pray and how should we pray? The Lord’s Prayer, and how often should we pray? Continually. Why do we use the Lord’s Prayer and not some other? The Lord’s Prayer covers all the areas that is important for our spiritual being.
When we pray the Lords prayer we ask to forgive our enemies, let God’s will be done, the kingdom to come. By praying the Lord’s prayer we let go of many thoughts we have in our head and give them back to God so we can have things revealed to us.
We must overcome resentment in our heart, and in a past video I shared about Dr. Jordan Peterson talks about how resentment can destroy us and we become our own very worst enemy and Jordan goes on to say that we must talk to people what we have resentment toward to overcome that resentment. Other people who lived in the past who talked about this is Jesus Christ and someone who is living now who talks about this daily is Brother Augustine, Dr. John MacArthur, Dr. Charles Stanley, Rev. John Piper and Pastor Paul Washer.
Women are looking for a fathers love
Women are looking for a fathers love. Its important that men understand women are looking for a fathers love and not get screwed. Woman more than anything are looking for a strong spiritual man to lead the future (the family). I think in many YouTube videos on biblical teachings, how young women are being hurt by men that are just looking to get laid instead of doing right and being in Christ and setting a good example of a strong man. We must be in Christ, hate no one, love all, forgave theses we resent, love what is right and support people who are walking with God.
Women need their fathers in their lives to be strong man to be good examples and not BETA men or weak examples of what a man should be. Its important that a man leads the way as Christ leads men, we as man need to fellow Jesus Christ to keep society from going to HELL.
Every day you can see or people watch how some men and women our living in hell without the right spiritual order then you will continue your hellish way according to 2 Peter. You can also find it in Romans. God will give you over to a reprobate mind.
And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient. – Romans 1:28 (KJV)
In Romans 1, Paul refers to something known as a reprobate mind. If you’re not familiar with the term reprobate, the literal definition in the Greek is failing to pass the test, unapproved, counterfeit.

Spiritual Order – In The Family and Church

Here is Book, Chapter and Verse from the Kings James Version 1 Corinthian 11:2-16, But the main message is in 1 Corinthian 11:3: “3 But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God.”

How God Commands Us To Forgive Those Who We Have Resentment Toward.
All of us are tested everyday by our personal internal struggle coming from resentment of what happened earlier in our lives as children typically what our mother did to us, telling how our fathers were not good enough or driving us away from our fathers when we were children. We most go to the people that we have resentment against and forgive them. By forgiving our mothers or whoever we have resentment against, God will forgive us and we can return to the heavenly Father through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
It was said if you don’t love everyone then you love no one. People today live like the Old Testament people did. We must forgive and love everyone as God Commanded us to do according to Matthew 22:34-40.

After Reading The Passage I would Recommend Doing A Silent Prayer
Its is said: Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth. Psalm 46:10 King James Version (KJV)

In a world where it is so easy to forget the importance of God, we must remember that He is holy and will not share His glory. America has forgotten this truth and it is time for us to re-examine our relationship with God and recognize that He is the one true God who deserves our full devotion and reverence. We must remember that He will not be taken lightly or ignored, but rather should be honored as the Creator of all things. Only then can we truly experience His love and grace in our lives.
