Job: Dust to Glory
“Job” is the 30th message in R.C. Sproul’s 57-part teaching series, Dust to Glory: An Overview of the Bible.
In this specific lesson, Dr. Sproul explores the book of Job to address the question of God’s presence during human suffering. Key themes include:
- God’s Sovereignty: Sproul teaches that even when Job’s children and wealth were taken away, he was to trust in God’s sovereign purpose rather than assuming punishment for secret sin.
- The Problem of Suffering: The message examines why God allows the righteous to suffer and how believers can cling to God’s goodness in their “darkest days.”
- Series Context: The lesson is part of the Old Testament section of the series, which provides a panoramic overview of biblical history, themes, and people from Creation to Revelation.
What Does The KJV Bible Say?
The Book of Job is heavily focused on the problem of suffering and the absolute sovereignty of God. This analysis presents the Book of Job through the framework of Dr. R.C. Sproul’s landmark series Dust to Glory, evaluated strictly through the text of the King James Version (KJV).
To provide a multi-dimensional perspective, this breakdown includes 10 illustrative narrative examples alongside specialized analytical perspectives mimicking an MBTI Analyst, John MacArthur, Jordan Maxwell, and Carl Jung.
The Sovereign God and the Suffering Servant: KJV Analysis
In Dust to Glory, Dr. Sproul emphasized that the Book of Job serves to humble humanity by highlighting the staggering distance between the creature (“dust”) and the Creator (“glory”). The core conflict does not resolve with a neat philosophical answer to why the innocent suffer, but with an overwhelming revelation of who God is.
| Job Narrative Phase | Key KJV Verse | R.C. Sproul Dust to Glory Focus |
|---|---|---|
| 1. The Divine Prerogative | Job 1:21 — “The Lord gave, and the Lord hath taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord.” | God owns all earthly blessings; his stewardship over human lives is absolute and unquestionable. |
| 2. Physical Affliction | Job 2:10 — “What? shall we receive good at the hand of God, and shall we not receive evil?” | Secondary causes (Satan, disease) operate strictly under the boundary lines drawn by divine decree. |
| 3. The Cry for a Mediator | Job 19:25 — “For I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth.” | Job’s prophetic intuition points directly forward to the ultimate vindication of believers in Christ. |
| 4. The Cosmic interrogation | Job 38:4 — “Where wast thou when I laid the foundations of the earth? declare, if thou hast understanding.” | Humanity lacks the cosmic perspective required to stand as judge over God’s moral governance. |
| 5. Ultimate Humility | Job 42:6 — “Wherefore I abhor myself, and repent in dust and ashes.” | True wisdom is found when human self-righteousness is shattered by a direct encounter with divine holiness. |
10 Narrative Examples of “Dust to Glory” in Job (KJV)
- Example 1: The Devastation of Material Wealth (Job 1:13–17). Job’s massive livestock and servants are instantly destroyed by fire and raiders. Sproul’s Focus: Earthly security is exposed as fleeting dust compared to the permanent glory of God.
- Example 2: The Loss of Posterity (Job 1:18–19). A great wind collapses the house on Job’s ten children, killing them all. Sproul’s Focus: God remains worthy of worship even when human lineages are broken.
- Example 3: Bodily Degradation (Job 2:7–8). Satan smites Job with sore boils from the sole of his foot to his crown. Sproul’s Focus: Physical decay emphasizes our vulnerable, earthly framework.
- Example 4: Marital Isolation (Job 2:9). Job’s wife counsels him to “curse God, and die.” Sproul’s Focus: Total human alienation often precedes a deeper reliance on God alone.
- Example 5: Misplaced Theological Counsel (Job 4–22). Eliphaz, Bildad, and Zophar falsely argue that Job’s suffering must be the result of a secret sin. Sproul’s Focus: Simplistic formulas fail to capture the deep, hidden mysteries of God’s providence.
- Example 6: The Desire for Legal Arbitration (Job 9:32–33). Job laments that God is not a man like him, wishing for a “daysman” (arbitrator) to lay hands on both. Sproul’s Focus: This highlights the desperate human need for Jesus Christ, our ultimate Mediator.
- Example 7: The Transience of Flesh (Job 14:1–2). “Man that is born of a woman is of few days, and full of trouble. He cometh forth like a flower, and is cut down.” Sproul’s Focus: A vivid poetic depiction of our “dust” nature.
- Example 8: The Silencing of Human Wisdom (Job 32–37). Elihu interjects to defend God’s justice, preparing Job for the Lord’s arrival. Sproul’s Focus: Human speculation must step aside when the Creator speaks.
- Example 9: The Anatomy of Creation (Job 40–41). God challenges Job to look upon the Behemoth and Leviathan. Sproul’s Focus: If a man cannot master God’s physical creations, he cannot master God’s hidden designs.
- Example 10: Double Restoration (Job 42:10–12). The Lord turns the captivity of Job and gives him twice as much as he had before. Sproul’s Focus: An earthly foreshadowing of the final glory that awaits God’s redeemed people.
Analyst Reports on the Book of Job
1. MBTI Analyst Report (INTJ/INTP Perspective)
- Core Diagnosis: A catastrophic collapse of systemic expectations and a failure of causal predictability.
- Mechanics: Job functions as a high-functioning analytical thinker who treats the universe as a rational framework governed by predictable laws (the Covenant). When his variables are completely upended without data input from the “Heavenly Council” narrative room, his primary psychological threat is not just the physical loss, but the complete disintegration of his logical framework.
- The Resolution: God’s response in Chapter 38 is the ultimate paradigm shift. He forces Job to step outside his micro-framework and acknowledge a macro-system so massive it cannot be parsed by human cognitive architecture. The transformation from dust to glory is an intellectual surrender to an infinite, incomprehensible architecture.
2. John MacArthur Analyst Report (Expository & Reformed Perspective)
- Core Diagnosis: A definitive manifestation of Divine Sovereignty over human self-righteousness.
- Mechanics: We must reject any notion that Job was entirely sinless in an absolute theological sense; rather, he was blameless in his covenant walk. Job’s error lay in defending his own integrity at the expense of God’s righteousness (Job 40:8).
- The Resolution: God does not owe man an explanation for suffering. Salvation and affliction are both expressions of a sovereign will. When Job proclaims, “I have heard of thee by the hearing of the ear: but now mine eye seeth thee,” (Job 42:5) he is experiencing true conviction. The glory is realized only when human pride is thoroughly crushed into the dust of repentance.
3. Jordan Maxwell Analyst Report (Astro-Theological Perspective)
- Core Diagnosis: An allegorical, cosmic drama detailing solar cycles, stellar shifts, and ancient esoteric balance.
- Mechanics: Job is not merely an individual historical entity, but a personification of the Sun or a constellation undergoing the dark night of the cosmic winter. The “Sons of God” presenting themselves before Yahweh represents the alignment of planetary systems and signs of the Zodiac. Satan, functioning as the adversary or the “shadow” cast by the setting sun, represents darkness encroaching upon the light.
- The Resolution: Job’s physical afflictions mirror the stripping away of the Earth’s fertility during seasonal shifts. The restoration of his wealth and his family is the inevitable arrival of the spring equinox—the rebirth of light, the ultimate triumph of solar glory over the dust of cosmic darkness.
4. Carl Jung Analyst Report (Psychoanalytic & Archetypal Perspective)
- Core Diagnosis: An essential step in the evolution of the divine and human consciousness through the integration of the Shadow.
- Mechanics: Yahweh’s wager with Satan reveals an unintegrated, unconscious aspect of the divine psyche. God allows his most faithful servant to be tortured because He has been unconsciously provoked by the Adversary (the Shadow). Job, conversely, represents a higher state of conscious morality; he undergoes individuation by confronting the terrifying, dual nature of the Numens—both creative and destructive.
- The Resolution: By holding fast to his psychic integrity while facing an amoral cosmic force, Job intellectually and morally outgrows his unreflective image of God. The “dust” of human suffering acts as the catalyst that forces the archetype of the Self to fully integrate, generating a transformed spiritual consciousness.

This is a major important point about forgiveness
Leave there thy gift before the altar, and go thy way; first be reconciled to thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift. -MATTHEW 5:24 KJV
Are You Your Own Worst Enemy?
I would start out by saying what Jesus Christ would want us to do? Pray and how should we pray? The Lord’s Prayer, and how often should we pray? Continually. Why do we use the Lord’s Prayer and not some other? The Lord’s Prayer covers all the areas that is important for our spiritual being.
When we pray the Lords prayer we ask to forgive our enemies, let God’s will be done, the kingdom to come. By praying the Lord’s prayer we let go of many thoughts we have in our head and give them back to God so we can have things revealed to us.
We must overcome resentment in our heart, and in a past video I shared about Dr. Jordan Peterson talks about how resentment can destroy us and we become our own very worst enemy and Jordan goes on to say that we must talk to people what we have resentment toward to overcome that resentment. Other people who lived in the past who talked about this is Jesus Christ and someone who is living now who talks about this daily is Brother Augustine, Dr. John MacArthur, Dr. Charles Stanley, Rev. John Piper and Pastor Paul Washer.
Women are looking for a fathers love
Women are looking for a fathers love. Its important that men understand women are looking for a fathers love and not get screwed. Woman more than anything are looking for a strong spiritual man to lead the future (the family). I think in many YouTube videos on biblical teachings, how young women are being hurt by men that are just looking to get laid instead of doing right and being in Christ and setting a good example of a strong man. We must be in Christ, hate no one, love all, forgave theses we resent, love what is right and support people who are walking with God.
Women need their fathers in their lives to be strong man to be good examples and not BETA men or weak examples of what a man should be. Its important that a man leads the way as Christ leads men, we as man need to fellow Jesus Christ to keep society from going to HELL.
Every day you can see or people watch how some men and women our living in hell without the right spiritual order then you will continue your hellish way according to 2 Peter. You can also find it in Romans. God will give you over to a reprobate mind.
And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient. – Romans 1:28 (KJV)
In Romans 1, Paul refers to something known as a reprobate mind. If you’re not familiar with the term reprobate, the literal definition in the Greek is failing to pass the test, unapproved, counterfeit.

Spiritual Order – In The Family and Church
God the father
Jesus Christ
Father (Men over women)
Mother (Women over children)
Here is Book, Chapter and Verse from the Kings James Version 1 Corinthian 11:2-16, But the main message is in 1 Corinthian 11:3: “3 But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God.”

How God Commands Us To Forgive Those Who We Have Resentment Toward.
All of us are tested everyday by our personal internal struggle coming from resentment of what happened earlier in our lives as children typically what our mother did to us, telling how our fathers were not good enough or driving us away from our fathers when we were children. We most go to the people that we have resentment against and forgive them. By forgiving our mothers or whoever we have resentment against, God will forgive us and we can return to the heavenly Father through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
It was said if you don’t love everyone then you love no one. People today live like the Old Testament people did. We must forgive and love everyone as God Commanded us to do according to Matthew 22:34-40.

After Reading The Passage I would Recommend Doing A Silent Prayer
Its is said: Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth. Psalm 46:10 King James Version (KJV)

In a world where it is so easy to forget the importance of God, we must remember that He is holy and will not share His glory. America has forgotten this truth and it is time for us to re-examine our relationship with God and recognize that He is the one true God who deserves our full devotion and reverence. We must remember that He will not be taken lightly or ignored, but rather should be honored as the Creator of all things. Only then can we truly experience His love and grace in our lives.
