Many Called, Few Chosen Isn’t About Heaven
The phrase “Many are called, but few are chosen” from Matthew 22:14 is often interpreted as referring to salvation and eternal life, but its primary context is not solely about who goes to heaven. Instead, it emphasizes faithfulness and readiness for God’s kingdom, particularly in the context of the Parable of the Wedding Feast.
Key Insight: The parable illustrates that while the invitation (the “call”) is extended widely—first to the Jewish people, then to Gentiles—only those who genuinely respond with proper faith and obedience are truly “chosen.” The man without wedding clothes represents someone who accepted the invitation outwardly but lacked the inward transformation required to belong. The wedding garment symbolizes the righteousness of Christ, received through faith.
Why it’s not just about heaven:
- The focus is on authentic discipleship—living in alignment with God’s will, not just attending the feast.
- The “chosen” are those who not only hear the call but respond with repentance, faith, and a life transformed by grace.
- The warning is against superficial faith—being present in the kingdom’s activities without true spiritual preparation.
Conclusion: While the outcome (eternal life) is part of the story, the deeper message is about being truly ready—not just invited. It’s a call to examine one’s heart: Are you truly clothed in Christ’s righteousness, or just attending the feast without belonging?
What Does The KJV Bible Say?
“Many are called, but few are chosen” (Matthew 22:14 KJV) refers to the kingdom of God’s invitation on earth, not entrance into heaven. In the parable of the wedding banquet, the “called” are those invited to salvation (many), while the “chosen” are those who respond with faith and repentance (few), wearing Christ’s righteousness.
Here is a breakdown of the passage based on the KJV:
| Term | Context (Matt 22) | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| Many Called | The initial guests and those in the streets invited to the wedding. | God’s broad invitation to salvation/repentance (the gospel) extended to everyone. |
| Few Chosen | The guests inside who were wearing the proper wedding garment. | Those who accept the invitation, repent, and are justified/clothed in Christ’s righteousness. |
| The Wedding | The Banquet Hall. | The Kingdom of God on earth and the Church, which will culminate in the future. |
| The Guest Cast Out | The man without a wedding garment. | Individuals who hear the Gospel but do not truly repent or submit to Christ. |
Key Takeaways from the Parable (KJV):
- It is not about who goes to heaven: It is about who accepts the invitation to God’s kingdom now.
- The “Call” is general: The invitation to hear the good news goes to everyone.
- The “Chosen” are specific: They are those who respond to the call, accept it, and live a changed life.
- The “Garment” matters: The chosen are those covered by the righteousness of Christ (Matthew 22:11-13).
What Does The Strong’s Concordance Say?
According to the Strong’s Concordance, the phrase “Many are called, but few are chosen” (Matthew 22:14) is not a statement about the limited number of people going to heaven. Rather, it is a statement about the difference between those who receive the invitation to God’s kingdom (the “called”—kletos) and those who actually respond with faith and obedience (the “chosen” or elect—eklektos).
It is the conclusion to the Parable of the Wedding Feast, where the “called” are those invited, but the “chosen” are those who attend with the proper “wedding garment” (symbolizing righteousness and true repentance).
Here are 10 examples/interpretations from the Bible and biblical context:
- The Initial Guests Who Refused (Matthew 22:3-6): The first group invited to the wedding, who made excuses or acted with hostility, represent the “called” who refused to respond.
- The Wedding Guest Without Garments (Matthew 22:11-13): The man at the feast without proper clothes represents those who “accept” the call but fail to truly repent or live righteously, leading to them being cast out.
- The “Many” Are the General Audience (Matthew 22:14): The word “many” (polus) suggests an abundant, general invitation extended to everyone (Jews and Gentiles) to hear the gospel.
- The “Few” Are the Devoted (Matthew 22:14): The “few” (oligos) refers to the smaller group that acts on the invitation, often characterized as a faithful remnant.
- The Narrow Gate (Matthew 7:14): Jesus explains that while the invitation is open, few find the “narrow way” of true, committed discipleship.
- The Parable of the Sower (Matthew 13:1-23): “Many” hear the word, but only the few who are “good soil” actually bear fruit and are chosen.
- The Workers in the Vineyard (Matthew 20:16): Similarly to the wedding feast, many are called to work, but only those who persist in faith are “chosen” (the context of Matthew 20:16).
- The Five Wise Bridesmaids (Matthew 25:1-13): Only five were prepared (chosen) with enough oil, while the other five were not, focusing on readiness, not heaven’s capacity.
- The “Called” and “Faithful” (Revelation 17:14): This verse defines the “chosen” as those who are not only invited but remain faithful to the end.
- The Demand for Repentance (Luke 13:23-24): When asked if few are saved, Jesus tells them to “strive” (work hard) to enter, emphasizing that the “chosen” are those actively following him, not just those who heard of him.
What Does The Talmud Say?
“Many are called, few are chosen” (Matthew 22:14), while a New Testament phrase, echoes a concept familiar to Talmudic and Hebrew thought: that a large group (or all of Israel) is invited to a covenant or task, but only a few fulfill the rigorous requirements of that calling. It is not generally interpreted in the Talmud as a description of who gets into heaven, but rather as a commentary on the difficulty of adherence to Torah, righteousness, and specific, high-level spiritual duties.
Here are 10 examples from the Talmud and related Rabbinic literature of how this principle is applied to earthly, spiritual, and communal life:
- Gittin 57a (The Few in the “Next World”): While this passage discusses “the next world,” it reverses expectations, stating that the “few” (those who are on top in this world) are on the bottom, while the “many” (the humble/down-trodden) are on top.
- The Giving of the Torah (Exodus Rabba): All Israelites were called to receive the Torah, but only those who accepted the obligation (“we will do and we will obey”) were truly chosen to sustain it.
- The Generation of the Flood: All humanity was called to righteousness, but only Noah and his family were “chosen” for salvation, having proved their righteousness in their generation.
- Gideon’s Army (Judges 7, discussed in Talmudic commentary): Many (32,000) were called to fight the Midianites, but only a few (300) were chosen to be in the final army, based on specific tests of vigilance and dedication.
- The Righteousness of Abraham (Talmud Bavli, Kiddushin): Many people lived in the time of Abraham, but he alone was “chosen” for the covenant because he followed God’s ways exclusively.
- The “Scholars” in the World to Come (Pesachim 50a): The Talmud states that in the future, the world will be refined, and “I saw that the upper class were few,” meaning that the truly righteous who truly deserve a high status are rare, despite many appearing pious.
- The Priestly Function (Kohanim): The entire tribe of Levi was called to serve, but only the descendants of Aaron were chosen for the High Priesthood (Kohanim) and specific, demanding service.
- The 36 Hidden Righteous (Lamed-Vavniks): The Talmud (Sanhedrin 97b) suggests that at all times, there are 36 righteous people (the Tzadikim Nistarim) for whose sake the world exists, though many thousands are alive at that time.
- The Call to Repentance (Rosh Hashanah 16b): During the High Holy Days, all are “called” to repent, but only a few truly repent with their whole heart, making them “chosen” to be inscribed in the Book of Life.
- The “Worldly” vs. the “Righteous” (Talmudic principle of the few): The Talmud (Pesachim 50a) observes that many people are engaged in everyday life (the “many called”), but few are truly consecrated to studying Torah for its own sake (the “few chosen”).
Summary of Talmudic Context:
In these contexts, the “calling” is the general offer of a covenant, opportunity, or duty to all, while the “choosing” represents the high level of personal righteousness, obedience, or intellectual commitment that only a few achieve.

This is a major important point about forgiveness
Leave there thy gift before the altar, and go thy way; first be reconciled to thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift. -MATTHEW 5:24 KJV
Are You Your Own Worst Enemy?
I would start out by saying what Jesus Christ would want us to do? Pray and how should we pray? The Lord’s Prayer, and how often should we pray? Continually. Why do we use the Lord’s Prayer and not some other? The Lord’s Prayer covers all the areas that is important for our spiritual being.
When we pray the Lords prayer we ask to forgive our enemies, let God’s will be done, the kingdom to come. By praying the Lord’s prayer we let go of many thoughts we have in our head and give them back to God so we can have things revealed to us.
We must overcome resentment in our heart, and in a past video I shared about Dr. Jordan Peterson talks about how resentment can destroy us and we become our own very worst enemy and Jordan goes on to say that we must talk to people what we have resentment toward to overcome that resentment. Other people who lived in the past who talked about this is Jesus Christ and someone who is living now who talks about this daily is Brother Augustine, Dr. John MacArthur, Dr. Charles Stanley, Rev. John Piper and Pastor Paul Washer.
Women are looking for a fathers love
Women are looking for a fathers love. Its important that men understand women are looking for a fathers love and not get screwed. Woman more than anything are looking for a strong spiritual man to lead the future (the family). I think in many YouTube videos on biblical teachings, how young women are being hurt by men that are just looking to get laid instead of doing right and being in Christ and setting a good example of a strong man. We must be in Christ, hate no one, love all, forgave theses we resent, love what is right and support people who are walking with God.
Women need their fathers in their lives to be strong man to be good examples and not BETA men or weak examples of what a man should be. Its important that a man leads the way as Christ leads men, we as man need to fellow Jesus Christ to keep society from going to HELL.
Every day you can see or people watch how some men and women our living in hell without the right spiritual order then you will continue your hellish way according to 2 Peter. You can also find it in Romans. God will give you over to a reprobate mind.
And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient. – Romans 1:28 (KJV)
In Romans 1, Paul refers to something known as a reprobate mind. If you’re not familiar with the term reprobate, the literal definition in the Greek is failing to pass the test, unapproved, counterfeit.

Spiritual Order – In The Family and Church
God the father
Jesus Christ
Father (Men over women)
Mother (Women over children)
Here is Book, Chapter and Verse from the Kings James Version 1 Corinthian 11:2-16, But the main message is in 1 Corinthian 11:3: “3 But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God.”

How God Commands Us To Forgive Those Who We Have Resentment Toward.
All of us are tested everyday by our personal internal struggle coming from resentment of what happened earlier in our lives as children typically what our mother did to us, telling how our fathers were not good enough or driving us away from our fathers when we were children. We most go to the people that we have resentment against and forgive them. By forgiving our mothers or whoever we have resentment against, God will forgive us and we can return to the heavenly Father through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
It was said if you don’t love everyone then you love no one. People today live like the Old Testament people did. We must forgive and love everyone as God Commanded us to do according to Matthew 22:34-40.
After Reading The Passage I would Recommend Doing A Silent Prayer
Its is said: Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth. Psalm 46:10 King James Version (KJV)

In a world where it is so easy to forget the importance of God, we must remember that He is holy and will not share His glory. America has forgotten this truth and it is time for us to re-examine our relationship with God and recognize that He is the one true God who deserves our full devotion and reverence. We must remember that He will not be taken lightly or ignored, but rather should be honored as the Creator of all things. Only then can we truly experience His love and grace in our lives.
