Why Some Men Never Grow Up – The Man-Child Explained (Carl Jung), It’s Really The Mother Fault

Why Some Men Never Grow Up – The Man-Child Explained (Carl Jung), It’s Really The Mother Fault

The concept of the “man-child,” or the individual who refuses to grow up emotionally and take on adult responsibilities, has been explored by Carl Jung and other psychologists. According to Jung, this phenomenon is often linked to an unresolved psychological development, where an individual remains stuck in a state of immaturity, failing to integrate their shadow self and take on adult responsibilities. This can result from an overprotective upbringing, where the individual is not given the opportunity to face challenges, make decisions, or learn from their mistakes, leading to a lack of autonomy and a continued reliance on others.

Jung’s work, along with that of Marie-Louise von Franz, highlights the idea of the “Puer Aeternus,” or the “eternal child,” who remains psychologically stunted and avoids the demands of adult life. This individual may exhibit traits such as emotional immaturity, dependency, avoidance, narcissism, and a sense of entitlement. The man-child often seeks validation and support from others, expecting them to solve their problems rather than taking responsibility for their own actions.

In addition to psychological factors, societal influences may contribute to the man-child phenomenon. For instance, a culture that emphasizes protection and conformity can hinder the development of independence and resilience, further perpetuating the cycle of immaturity. The man-child may also struggle with the fear of failure, leading them to avoid challenges and remain in a state of fantasy or escapism.

Overall, the man-child complex is seen as a hindrance to personal growth, as it prevents individuals from fully embracing their shadow self and developing the emotional maturity needed to navigate adult life.

The Mother Archetype

The mother archetype, as conceptualized by Carl Jung, is a universal pattern or image present in the collective unconscious of all humans. It represents the nurturing and caring aspects of the female figure, as well as the power and wisdom of the divine feminine. According to Jung, the mother archetype is associated with qualities such as nurturing, love, compassion, and protection. It is often depicted in myths, stories, and religious traditions as a symbol of the feminine principle, representing the qualities of fertility, creativity, and abundance.

Jung also acknowledged that the mother archetype can have a negative aspect, such as the potential for possessiveness, dependency, and enmeshment. In some cases, individuals may struggle to separate themselves from the influence of their mother or to establish their own sense of identity. The negative side of the mother archetype is referred to as the “devouring mother,” which can consume her children, especially her son, and is depicted in myths such as that of the Gorgon.

The mother archetype plays a significant role in the individuation process, which is the journey towards self-realisation and wholeness. It can represent the individual’s own inner nurturing and caring qualities, as well as the influence of their mother or other maternal figures in their life. Jung considered the mother archetype the most significant of all, as it is the archetype of which we first become conscious and contains all the nurturing, abandoning, terrifying, and awesome aspects of the mother.

In addition to the positive and negative aspects, the mother archetype can also be seen as a symbol of the Great Mother, who is the force that drives creation and destruction, fecundity, but also the barren womb. The Great Mother is Mother Nature who brings us fruit and grain but also hurricanes, drought, and locusts. The mother archetype is not just our personal mother; it is a universal pattern that influences how we form our concept of ourselves in the world. It is a central element of the collective unconscious, and working with it is essential for understanding and integrating the various aspects of our psyche.

It’s Really The Mother Fault!

The concept of why some men never grow up, often referred to as the “man-child” or “Puer Aeternus,” is explored through the lens of Carl Jung’s psychology, with a focus on the role of the mother. According to Jung, the archetypal mother plays a significant role in shaping a man’s psychological development. When a mother is overly protective or suffocating, she can prevent her son from developing autonomy, leading to a state where he remains emotionally and psychologically immature. This phenomenon is sometimes described as the “devouring great mother,” where the mother’s excessive care can trap the son in a cycle of dependency, preventing him from facing the world independently.

In addition to the mother’s influence, the father’s role is also considered. However, the focus often remains on the mother due to the deep emotional bond and the potential for overprotection. The mother’s unfulfilled desires or ambitions can be projected onto her children, leading to a situation where the child is expected to live out the mother’s unfulfilled life. This can result in the child feeling pressured to achieve what the mother could not, which can hinder their own personal growth and development.

The man-child archetype is characterized by a reluctance to take responsibility, a tendency to avoid challenges, and a preference for living in a state of perpetual fantasy or escapism. This can manifest in various ways, such as a lack of commitment to long-term goals, a tendency to procrastinate, and an inability to form deep, meaningful relationships. The man-child may also exhibit a sense of entitlement, expecting the world to cater to their needs without putting in the necessary effort to achieve their goals.

Did Saint John See How The “devouring mother” Played In The Spiritual And Psychological Role In The End Time As Babylon The Great

Babylon the Great in Revelation: A symbolic exploration

The Book of Revelation describes “Babylon the Great” as a woman and a city, holding a golden cup full of abominations. She sits on “many waters,” which are interpreted as “peoples, multitudes, nations, and tongues”. She is also called “the Mother of Harlots and of the Abominations of the Earth”. This symbolic imagery suggests a corrupt religious and economic system that exerts powerful spiritual and psychological influence over the entire world, leading people away from God.

Connecting to the “devouring mother” archetype

The imagery used to describe Babylon the Great resonates with the psychological archetype of the “devouring mother” or “terrible mother,” an archetype often discussed in Jungian psychology. This archetype represents a controlling, possessive mother who hinders her children’s autonomy and development under the guise of protection and care.

Possible connections between Babylon the Great and the “devouring mother”:

  • Symbol of control and seduction: Babylon the Great, through her wealth and allure, exerts control over individuals and nations, just as a devouring mother attempts to control her children’s choices and experiences.
  • Hindrance of spiritual growth: Babylon the Great, through her false teachings and worldly seductions, hinders people’s spiritual growth and closeness to God, similar to how a devouring mother impedes her children’s independence and maturity.
  • False sense of security: Babylon the Great offers a false sense of security and identity based on material possessions and worldly success, blinding individuals to their need for God and true security, according to G.K. Beale. This mirrors how a devouring mother, through overprotection and infantilization, can make her children emotionally dependent and ill-equipped for the complexities of the world.

In conclusion, the portrayal of Babylon the Great in Revelation, with her seductive power and harmful influence, can be seen as embodying aspects of the “devouring mother” archetype. This connection suggests that John may have implicitly recognized the psychological role of such a destructive force in leading humanity astray from God’s path.

Biblical scholars generally interpret “Babylon the Great” as a symbolic representation of a powerful system opposed to God, characterized by idolatry, spiritual confusion, worldliness, and the persecution of the faithful.

While the term “devouring mother” doesn’t appear in the Book of Revelation, the imagery used to describe Babylon the Great resonates with some interpretations of the “devouring mother” archetype in psychology and mythology:

  • Overwhelming Control and Dependency: Babylon the Great, as depicted in Revelation, represents a system that seeks to dominate and control the world, influencing nations and kings according to Adventist.org. This can be seen as mirroring the archetypal devouring mother who stifles independence and fosters unhealthy dependency.

Some commentators and scholars see parallels between the figure of Babylon the Great and the “devouring mother” archetype due to the themes of excessive control and destructive power associated with both

. In the KJV, several verses depict Babylon’s oppressive influence and eventual downfall:

Revelation 17:

  • Revelation 17:1-2: Describes the judgment of the “great whore that sitteth upon many waters” with whom the kings and inhabitants of the earth have committed fornication.
  • Revelation 17:5: Identifies her as “MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH.”
  • Revelation 17:15: Explains that the waters represent “peoples, and multitudes, and nations, and tongues.”
  • Revelation 17:16: Foretells that the “ten horns…upon the beast” will hate the whore, make her desolate, and destroy her by fire.
  • Revelation 17:18: States that the woman is the “great city, which reigneth over the kings of the earth.”

Revelation 18:

  • Revelation 18:3: Explains that all nations have been influenced by her “fornication” and merchants have become wealthy through her luxuries.
  • Revelation 18:7: Highlights her self-glorification and luxurious living, stating she believes she is a queen who will not experience sorrow.
  • Revelation 18:24: Reveals that the “blood of prophets, and of saints, and of all that were slain upon the earth” was found in her.

These verses portray Babylon the Great as a powerful entity that reigns over the world, enticing people with wealth and luxury. This influence is depicted as leading away from spiritual freedom and ultimately to destruction.

Interpretation

The “devouring mother” archetype in psychology describes a maternal figure who hinders her children’s independence through controlling behavior disguised as love. Similarly, commentators suggest that Babylon the Great’s seductive power creates an unhealthy reliance on worldly things, preventing spiritual growth and turning people from God. This ultimately results in destruction, mirroring the archetype’s destructive nature

Examining the concept of a “devouring mother” and KJV verses

While the term “devouring mother” is a concept from Jungian psychology, not directly from the KJV Bible, some biblical narratives and verses resonate with the idea of a parental figure whose behavior, though potentially rooted in a misguided form of love or concern, ultimately hinders their children’s independence and spiritual growth.

Relevant KJV verses

  1. Ephesians 6:4: “And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.”
  2. Colossians 3:21: “Fathers, provoke not your children to anger, lest they be discouraged.”
  3. Proverbs 31: This chapter describes the characteristics of a virtuous woman and mother, contrasting with the negative aspects of a “devouring mother.” Verses like Proverbs 31:28 (“Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her”) depict a mother who nurtures and empowers her family.
  4. 1 Corinthians 13:4-7: “Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up, Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil; Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth; Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.” These verses define what true love looks like and can be applied to parent-child relationships, contrasting with manipulative and controlling behaviors.

Connecting to the “devouring mother” archetype

  • Excessive Control: The “devouring mother” stifles independence through micromanagement and overbearing behavior. This contrasts with the concept of “nurture and admonition” in Ephesians 6:4, which implies guidance and instruction rather than stifling control.
  • Manipulation and Guilt: Some interpretations suggest that the archetype’s love can be disguised, leading to manipulation and guilt. This clashes with the biblical emphasis on speaking the truth in love and avoiding manipulation.
  • Hinderance of Growth: The “devouring mother” prevents children from developing and making their own decisions. This contradicts the biblical encouragement for children to grow in wisdom and discernment.

Important Note: The KJV and other versions of the Bible don’t explicitly mention the “devouring mother” archetype. However, the themes of love, responsibility, and the development of individuals within healthy family dynamics are present. The concept of a “devouring mother” provides a framework for analyzing how some parenting styles might inadvertently hinder growth and independence, even when motivated by love.

This is a major important point about forgiveness

Leave there thy gift before the altar, and go thy way; first be reconciled to thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift. -MATTHEW 5:24 KJV

Are You Your Own Worst Enemy?

I would start out by saying what Jesus Christ would want us to do? Pray and how should we pray? The Lord’s Prayer, and how often should we pray? Continually. Why do we use the Lord’s Prayer and not some other? The Lord’s Prayer covers all the areas that is important for our spiritual being.

When we pray the Lords prayer we ask to forgive our enemies, let God’s will be done, the kingdom to come. By praying the Lord’s prayer we let go of many thoughts we have in our head and give them back to God so we can have things revealed to us.

We must overcome resentment in our heart, and in a past video I shared about Dr. Jordan Peterson talks about how resentment can destroy us and we become our own very worst enemy and Jordan goes on to say that we must talk to people what we have resentment toward to overcome that resentment. Other people who lived in the past who talked about this is Jesus Christ and someone who is living now who talks about this daily is Brother Augustine, Dr. John MacArthur, Dr. Charles Stanley, Rev. John Piper and Pastor Paul Washer.

Women are looking for a fathers love

Women are looking for a fathers love. Its important that men understand women are looking for a fathers love and not get screwed. Woman more than anything are looking for a strong spiritual man to lead the future (the family). I think in many YouTube videos on biblical teachings, how young women are being hurt by men that are just looking to get laid instead of doing right and being in Christ and setting a good example of a strong man. We must be in Christ, hate no one, love all, forgave theses we resent, love what is right and support people who are walking with God.

Women need their fathers in their lives to be strong man to be good examples and not BETA men or weak examples of what a man should be. Its important that a man leads the way as Christ leads men, we as man need to fellow Jesus Christ to keep society from going to HELL.

Every day you can see or people watch how some men and women our living in hell without the right spiritual order then you will continue your hellish way according to 2 Peter. You can also find it in Romans. God will give you over to a reprobate mind.

And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient. – Romans 1:28 (KJV)

In Romans 1, Paul refers to something known as a reprobate mind. If you’re not familiar with the term reprobate, the literal definition in the Greek is failing to pass the test, unapproved, counterfeit.

How God Commands Us To Forgive Those Who We Have Resentment Toward.

All of us are tested everyday by our personal internal struggle coming from resentment of what happened earlier in our lives as children typically what our mother did to us, telling how our fathers were not good enough or driving us away from our fathers when we were children. We most go to the people that we have resentment against and forgive them. By forgiving our mothers or whoever we have resentment against, God will forgive us and we can return to the heavenly Father through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

It was said if you don’t love everyone then you love no one. People today live like the Old Testament people did. We must forgive and love everyone as God Commanded us to do according to Matthew 22:34-40.

In a world where it is so easy to forget the importance of God, we must remember that He is holy and will not share His glory. America has forgotten this truth and it is time for us to re-examine our relationship with God and recognize that He is the one true God who deserves our full devotion and reverence. We must remember that He will not be taken lightly or ignored, but rather should be honored as the Creator of all things. Only then can we truly experience His love and grace in our lives.
