The Charisma Teacher: Psychology Of Why People Don’t Like You! People Are Attracted To These Traits Video Review

The Charisma Teacher: Psychology Of Why People Don’t Like You! People Are Attracted To These Traits Video Review

“Psychology Of Why People Don’t Like You! People Are Attracted To These Traits” by the Charisma Teacher (Charlie Houpert of Charisma on Command) discusses specific habits that repel people and practical steps for becoming more likable. The video, which is also featured in a Diary of a CEO podcast episode with Steven Bartlett, emphasizes that charisma is a learnable skill based on mindset and observable behaviors.

Key takeaways from the video

1. Avoid small, repellent habits
The video emphasizes that minor, often subconscious, habits can significantly damage social interactions. Examples of these behaviors include:

  • Negatively interpreting ambiguous comments. Assuming the worst from someone’s neutral remark can make you seem cynical or defensive.
  • Needing to win every joke. Constantly trying to one-up others can make you appear insecure and competitive, rather than fun and engaging.
  • Failing to establish trust. Giving the impression that you are trying to extract something from others can make them wary of you.

2. Focus on “fun” and “trust” in the first 60 seconds
The video introduces the concept of building rapport quickly by conveying that you are both fun and trustworthy. This is more effective than simply showing interest in others, which can sometimes be seen as low-status.

  • Communicate that you are fun. You can do this by expressing enthusiasm in your answers. For example, when asked “How are you?”, give a more engaging answer than just “fine”.
  • Communicate that you are trustworthy. This can be done through non-verbal cues like steady eye contact and confident body language. You should avoid over-qualifying yourself, which can seem desperate.

3. Use playful and non-literal communication
Many people operate on autopilot, giving literal, unengaging answers to common questions. The video suggests that injecting playfulness into your responses can make interactions more fun and memorable.

  • Example: When a cashier asks, “Can I help you with anything else?” a playful response instead of a simple “no” can be more engaging.

4. Adopt “predator” rather than “prey” movements
Charlie Houpert discusses the impact of body language, particularly the difference between “prey” and “predator” movements. While not a literal interpretation, the concept suggests that calmer, slower, and more deliberate movements (predator-like) are perceived as more confident than nervous, jerky, and fidgety movements (prey-like).

5. Approach interactions with a leader’s mindset
The video advises taking the lead in social interactions, not by being controlling, but by setting a positive and engaging tone. This could mean being the first to offer a joke, show genuine vulnerability, or give a sincere compliment.

6. Reveal “deeper” information about yourself
To encourage deeper connection, avoid giving surface-level answers to common questions like “What do you do?” or “Where are you from?”. Instead, craft responses that reveal more authentic details about your life and interests. This encourages the other person to reciprocate.

Review and reception

The advice in the video is seen as valuable and actionable, with a strong focus on practical techniques rather than innate talent.

  • Positive reception: Many reviewers praise Houpert’s practical tips for introverts or socially anxious individuals to develop confidence and likability. His approach is praised for its vulnerability and emphasis on genuine, empathetic interaction.
  • Contrasting viewpoints: Some reviewers find the focus on “power dynamics” a point of disagreement, though most acknowledge the value of the practical advice offered.

What Does The KJV Bible Say?

A direct review of “The Charisma Teacher” video interpreted through the lens of the King James Version (KJV) Bible is not feasible, as these are two distinct sources from different time periods and contexts. The video is a modern psychological analysis of social skills, while the KJV is a sacred religious text. The two do not comment on one another.

However, a comparison can be made by examining biblical passages that speak on traits related to likability and behavior. While the video focuses on observable behaviors for social success, the Bible emphasizes inner character, righteousness, and spiritual gifts as the source of true attraction and influence.

The video’s advice versus biblical teachings

Charisma Teacher’s Advice Corresponding Biblical Principles (KJV)
Avoid small, repellent habits: The video points out that minor social tics like needing to win every joke or assuming negativity can drive people away.Guard your heart and tongue: The KJV often warns against rash and prideful speech, which aligns with avoiding repellent habits. For instance, Proverbs 18:6–7 states, “A fool’s lips enter into contention, and his mouth calleth for strokes. A fool’s mouth is his destruction, and his lips are the snare of his soul”.
Focus on “fun” and “trust” quickly: The video suggests that communicating enthusiasm and trustworthiness in the first 60 seconds is key to building rapport.Show genuine love and honor: The Bible stresses that enduring relationships are built on unconditional love and sincere honor, not a manufactured persona. Romans 12:10 says, “Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another”.
Adopt “leader” and “predator” body language: The video advises using calm, deliberate movements to project confidence.Exhibit a humble and quiet spirit: While confidence is valued, the Bible cautions against pride and encourages humility. The “imperishable beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit” is a trait that is “very precious” in God’s sight, as explained in 1 Peter 3:3–4.
Communicate with playfulness and deeper information: The video promotes avoiding literal, shallow conversation to create a more engaging connection.Speak with grace and wisdom: The KJV praises speech that is seasoned and edifying. Colossians 4:6 advises, “Let your speech be alway with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man.”
Understand why people might dislike you: The video suggests certain behaviors repel people.Focus on righteousness, not worldly approval: The Bible acknowledges that the righteous will often be hated by the world for their faith, just as Jesus was. John 15:18–19 states, “If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you… Therefore the world hateth you.”

Synthesis: The source of true influence

The video and the Bible share common ground in recognizing that certain behaviors, like prideful speech or dishonesty, can cause others to dislike a person. However, the foundational motivation differs greatly:

  • The Charisma Teacher focuses on practical, learned techniques for social effectiveness and personal fulfillment.
  • The KJV Bible teaches that genuine appeal and influence come not from charisma, but from inner holiness, love, and a desire to serve God. It warns that charm can be deceitful and that a relationship with God is the ultimate source of security, even if it leads to worldly persecution.

This is a major important point about forgiveness

Leave there thy gift before the altar, and go thy way; first be reconciled to thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift. -MATTHEW 5:24 KJV

Are You Your Own Worst Enemy?

I would start out by saying what Jesus Christ would want us to do? Pray and how should we pray? The Lord’s Prayer, and how often should we pray? Continually. Why do we use the Lord’s Prayer and not some other? The Lord’s Prayer covers all the areas that is important for our spiritual being.

When we pray the Lords prayer we ask to forgive our enemies, let God’s will be done, the kingdom to come. By praying the Lord’s prayer we let go of many thoughts we have in our head and give them back to God so we can have things revealed to us.

We must overcome resentment in our heart, and in a past video I shared about Dr. Jordan Peterson talks about how resentment can destroy us and we become our own very worst enemy and Jordan goes on to say that we must talk to people what we have resentment toward to overcome that resentment. Other people who lived in the past who talked about this is Jesus Christ and someone who is living now who talks about this daily is Brother Augustine, Dr. John MacArthur, Dr. Charles Stanley, Rev. John Piper and Pastor Paul Washer.

Women are looking for a fathers love

Women are looking for a fathers love. Its important that men understand women are looking for a fathers love and not get screwed. Woman more than anything are looking for a strong spiritual man to lead the future (the family). I think in many YouTube videos on biblical teachings, how young women are being hurt by men that are just looking to get laid instead of doing right and being in Christ and setting a good example of a strong man. We must be in Christ, hate no one, love all, forgave theses we resent, love what is right and support people who are walking with God.

Women need their fathers in their lives to be strong man to be good examples and not BETA men or weak examples of what a man should be. Its important that a man leads the way as Christ leads men, we as man need to fellow Jesus Christ to keep society from going to HELL.

Every day you can see or people watch how some men and women our living in hell without the right spiritual order then you will continue your hellish way according to 2 Peter. You can also find it in Romans. God will give you over to a reprobate mind.

And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient. – Romans 1:28 (KJV)

In Romans 1, Paul refers to something known as a reprobate mind. If you’re not familiar with the term reprobate, the literal definition in the Greek is failing to pass the test, unapproved, counterfeit.

How God Commands Us To Forgive Those Who We Have Resentment Toward.

All of us are tested everyday by our personal internal struggle coming from resentment of what happened earlier in our lives as children typically what our mother did to us, telling how our fathers were not good enough or driving us away from our fathers when we were children. We most go to the people that we have resentment against and forgive them. By forgiving our mothers or whoever we have resentment against, God will forgive us and we can return to the heavenly Father through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

It was said if you don’t love everyone then you love no one. People today live like the Old Testament people did. We must forgive and love everyone as God Commanded us to do according to Matthew 22:34-40.

In a world where it is so easy to forget the importance of God, we must remember that He is holy and will not share His glory. America has forgotten this truth and it is time for us to re-examine our relationship with God and recognize that He is the one true God who deserves our full devotion and reverence. We must remember that He will not be taken lightly or ignored, but rather should be honored as the Creator of all things. Only then can we truly experience His love and grace in our lives.
