Gary Habermas Shares Historical Information Most People Don’t Know About Jesus

Dr. Gary Habermas, a renowned Christian apologist and historian, sheds light on lesser-known historical details about Jesus, often challenging widely held assumptions. Let’s explore some of these fascinating insights, drawing upon verses from the King James Bible:

1. The Early Creeds: Contrary to popular belief, the core beliefs about Jesus, including his deity, death, and resurrection, weren’t formulated centuries later. Dr. Habermas emphasizes the existence of early Christian creeds, like the Apostles’ Creed, recited by believers within decades of Jesus’ death. These creeds, passed down orally and later written, served as summaries of core truths, suggesting a remarkably consistent understanding of Jesus from the very beginning.

2. James, the Skeptical Brother: The Bible mentions Jesus’ brothers, including James, initially skeptical of his claims. Dr. Habermas points out James’ transformation from doubter to ardent follower, even becoming the leader of the Jerusalem church after Jesus’ ascension (Acts 15:13-21). This radical shift, documented in the New Testament, adds weight to the historical reality of Jesus’ resurrection, which profoundly impacted those closest to him.

3. The Empty Tomb: One of the most debated aspects of Jesus’ story is the empty tomb. Dr. Habermas argues that the discovery of an empty tomb by the women early on Easter morning (Matthew 28:1-10) was a crucial event with significant historical implications. The empty tomb, acknowledged even by non-Christian sources, presents a challenge to alternative explanations and bolsters the case for Jesus’ resurrection.

4. Witness Testimony: The New Testament Gospels present eyewitness accounts of Jesus’ life, ministry, death, and resurrection. Dr. Habermas highlights the importance of these testimonies, passed down through generations, as primary sources for understanding Jesus’ historical Wirken. He emphasizes the consistency and coherence of these accounts, even amidst minor variations, suggesting their overall reliability.

5. Roman Confirmation: While the New Testament is the primary source for information about Jesus, Roman historical records also offer glimpses into his existence. Dr. Habermas cites Tacitus, Pliny the Younger, and Suetonius, Roman writers who acknowledged Jesus and early Christianity, albeit with varying degrees of accuracy. These external references, though brief, add another layer of historical verification to the biblical narrative.

Remember, Dr. Habermas’ insights and interpretations are part of a larger ongoing scholarly discussion about Jesus and early Christianity. Engaging with diverse perspectives and critically examining evidence is crucial for forming informed personal convictions.

These are just a few examples of the historical information about Jesus that Dr. Gary Habermas brings to light. By delving deeper into these insights and the supporting biblical passages, we can gain a richer understanding of the historical Jesus and the impact he continues to have on the world.

What documents that support Jesus Christ Lived and Dies according to the Bible that isn’t the Bible

While the Bible serves as the primary source for the life and death of Jesus Christ, several non-biblical documents and historical references offer additional insights and corroborate biblical accounts. Here are some key examples:

1. Early Christian Writings:

  • The Apostles’ Creed: This early Christian creed, likely formulated within the first century AD, summarizes core beliefs about Jesus, including his deity, death, and resurrection. Though its exact origins are debated, its existence within decades of Jesus’ death underscores the early and consistent understanding of his significance.
  • Didache: This early Christian document (c. 90-120 AD) provides instructions for church life and community. It references Jesus’ teachings, baptism, and Lord’s Supper, demonstrating awareness of these key aspects of his life and ministry.
  • Epistle of Ignatius to the Smyrnaeans (c. 110 AD): This letter from Ignatius, a disciple of the apostle John, mentions Jesus’ death on the cross and resurrection as central tenets of the faith. It also alludes to historical details like Pontius Pilate, adding another layer of context.

2. Roman and Jewish Sources:

  • Tacitus (c. 56-117 AD): This Roman historian briefly mentions Christus and his execution by Pontius Pilate in his Annals (c. 116 AD). While not extensive, it acknowledges Jesus’ existence and historical context within the Roman world.
  • Pliny the Younger (c. 61-113 AD): Pliny’s letters to Emperor Trajan (c. 107-113 AD) discuss early Christians and their worship of Christ. These references, though focused on Christian practices, indirectly confirm Jesus’ presence and impact in the Roman Empire.
  • Suetonius (c. 69-130 AD): In his biography of Claudius, Suetonius mentions the expulsion of Jews from Rome due to “Chrestus,” likely referring to Jesus. This again places Jesus within a specific historical context and hints at the early movement’s impact on Jewish communities.
  • Josephus (c. 37-100 AD): While Josephus’ writings about Jesus are debated, some scholars identify references in his Antiquities of the Jews (c. 93 AD) that indirectly allude to Jesus’ ministry, execution by Pilate, and the existence of his followers.

3. Archaeological Evidence:

  • Ossuary of James, the Brother of Jesus: This ossuary, discovered in 2002, bears an inscription mentioning “James, son of Joseph, brother of Jesus.” While its authenticity is debated, it presents potential archaeological evidence corroborating biblical references to Jesus’ family.
  • Early Christian Symbols: Archaeological discoveries of fish symbols, crosses, and other early Christian symbols can be seen as indirect evidence of the spread of Christianity and, by extension, the existence of Jesus as its central figure.

It’s important to note that these non-biblical documents and references offer varying degrees of historical support and interpretation. However, they provide valuable context and corroborating details that enrich our understanding of Jesus’ life and death beyond the biblical narrative. Remember, studying history and diverse perspectives is crucial for forming informed personal convictions about the historical Jesus.

This is a major important point about forgiveness

Leave there thy gift before the altar, and go thy way; first be reconciled to thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift. -MATTHEW 5:24 KJV

Are You Your Own Worst Enemy?

I would start out by saying what Jesus Christ would want us to do? Pray and how should we pray? The Lord’s Prayer, and how often should we pray? Continually. Why do we use the Lord’s Prayer and not some other? The Lord’s Prayer covers all the areas that is important for our spiritual being.

When we pray the Lords prayer we ask to forgive our enemies, let God’s will be done, the kingdom to come. By praying the Lord’s prayer we let go of many thoughts we have in our head and give them back to God so we can have things revealed to us.

We must overcome resentment in our heart, and in a past video I shared about Dr. Jordan Peterson talks about how resentment can destroy us and we become our own very worst enemy and Jordan goes on to say that we must talk to people what we have resentment toward to overcome that resentment. Other people who lived in the past who talked about this is Jesus Christ and someone who is living now who talks about this daily is Brother Augustine, Dr. John MacArthur, Dr. Charles Stanley, Rev. John Piper and Pastor Paul Washer.

Women are looking for a fathers love

Women are looking for a fathers love. Its important that men understand women are looking for a fathers love and not get screwed. Woman more than anything are looking for a strong spiritual man to lead the future (the family). I think in many YouTube videos on biblical teachings, how young women are being hurt by men that are just looking to get laid instead of doing right and being in christ and setting a good example of a strong man. We must be in Christ, hate no one, love all, forgave thoses we resent, love what is right and support people who are walking with God.

Women need their fathers in their lives to be strong man to be good examples and not BETA men or weak examples of what a man should be. Its important that a man leads the way as Christ leads men, we as man need to fellow Jesus Christ to keep society from going to HELL.

Every day you can see or people watch how some men and women our living in hell without the right spiritual order then you will continue your hellish way according to 2 Peter. You can also find it in Romans. God will give you over to a reprobate mind.

And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient. – Romans 1:28 (KJV)

In Romans 1, Paul refers to something known as a reprobate mind. If you’re not familiar with the term reprobate, the literal definition in the Greek is failing to pass the test, unapproved, counterfeit.

How God Commands Us To Forgive Those Who We Have Resentment Toward.

All of us are tested everyday by our personal internal struggle coming from resentment of what happened earlier in our lives as children typically what our mother did to us, telling how our fathers were not good enough or driving us away from our fathers when we were children. We most go to the people that we have resentment against and forgive them. By forgiving our mothers or whoever we have resentment against, God will forgive us and we can return to the heavenly Father through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

It was said if you don’t love everyone then you love no one. People today live like the Old Testament people did. We must forgive and love everyone as God Commanded us to do according to Matthew 22:34-40.

In a world where it is so easy to forget the importance of God, we must remember that He is holy and will not share His glory. America has forgotten this truth and it is time for us to re-examine our relationship with God and recognize that He is the one true God who deserves our full devotion and reverence. We must remember that He will not be taken lightly or ignored, but rather should be honored as the Creator of all things. Only then can we truly experience His love and grace in our lives.
